COVID-19

Q: Due to COVID-19, testing at our hospital may be quite difficult as we are just recently opening to visitors. I would rather not go to his home as I don't know the household residents' COVID statuses. Do you have any suggestions?

A: Testing can be conducted in any safe, quiet location where you are unlikely to be interrupted. Settings like the hospital and the participant's home are often ideal, however, other good options include offices and small conference rooms in public buildings such as libraries and community centers.

Q: My hospital's COVID-19 restrictions will not allow me and the participant I'm testing to touch the same iPad. Can I use a stylus?

A: Yes. This is a great solution. The participant should not use a stylus, but the NOA may.

Equipment

Q: What recording device should I use for the certification and training quality assurance videos?

A: The videos required by the outcome core for quality assurance and certification of training can be recorded on any digital recording device. A secure laptop, tablet, or cell phone with a camera may be most convenient. The ICECAP study iPad provided cannot be used because it will be needed to conduct the testing being recorded. To keep the recording secure, it must be kept on password protected devices with encrypted storage until you can upload it. Upload it promptly and delete it immediately after receipt has been confirmed. Remember that the recording should show the examiner, not the participant (beyond hands and arms). Permission to record should be captured at the start of the recording. The recordings are used only for training and QA purposes, therefore recordings are not source documents or study data and may be deleted after use for quality assurance and certification.

Practice Testing

Q: What identifiers should be used for the practice testing and can/should these practices be deleted when done?

A: There is no strict rule about this. Please just make sure to use a name that cannot be confused with real test data (i.e., no four digit numbers) and that it includes the name of your site. For example, TestUMICH1, TestUMICH2 etc...
