2022 Informational Webinar
Watch our Previous Informational Webinar (November 17, 2020):
General Description for 2022 Course
Spring/Summer Phase (April - August 2022):
Small groups will run from April to August 2022. Each small group will have two faculty and four trainees. Small group meetings will each be approximately 60-90 minutes and will be scheduled 2-3x's monthly using video teleconference and a web-based slide sharing site. Trainees will spend at least 2-3 hours per week working on assignments, reviewing course material, participating in small group meetings by teleconference, and attending webinars remotely.
Residential Experience (July 18 - 21, 2022 -- Iowa City, IA):
2022 Trainees will be required to attend the residential portion of the course with a preliminary clinical trial protocol and informed consent document (developed during small groups). Trainees are expected to be free from clinical, teaching, and other professional responsibilities to allow for the refinement and finalization of their protocols. Funding for travel (within the US) and accommodations will be provided for participants.
Summer/Fall Phase (August - November 2022):
Small groups will run from August to November 2022. Trainees will spend a significant amount of time refining their trial protocol and grant proposal, and preparing for the Mock Study Section, Mock IRB, and/or a final presentation which will be held in November. Again, trainees will need to spend at least 2-3 hours per week working on assignments, reviewing course material, participating in small group meetings by teleconference, and attending webinars remotely. The intention is that this time after the residential course will be similar to what would already be needed in terms of preparing a trial protocol/grant proposal, but will be enhanced by the mentorship and structure of this course.
