About Journal Club
The SIREN Journal Club is a 1-hour discussion among research investigators, staff, and any others interested in the learning and discussion of research. All are welcome. Registration is not required. Journal Club is held on the 3rd Wednesday of the Month. Journal Club breaks for July, August, and December.
The objectives of this Journal Club are to:
- Recognize and improve knowledge and skills of current practice and research;
- Analyze the information presented; and
- Identify implications for practice/research.

Contact UsDr. Jarron Mosier will be presenting “High-Flow Nasal Oxygen vs Noninvasive Ventilation in Patients With Acute Respiratory Failure. The RENOVATE Randomized Clinical Trial”. Dr. Jarrod Mosier is an Associate Professor of Emergency Medicine and Internal Medicine at the University of Arizona. He is an Associate Program Director for the Pulmonary Critical Care fellowship and the medical director for the ECMO service. Dr. Mosier also serves as the national course director for The Difficult Airway Course: Critical Care. His research interests include advanced airway management, acute respiratory failure, ECMO, and critical care delivery.
Dr. Joseph Finney will be presenting “Midazolam and Ketamine for Convulsive Status Epilepticus in the Out-of-Hospital Setting”. Joseph Finney, MD, is a Washington University pediatric emergency medicine and EMS physician. He is board certified in pediatrics, pediatric emergency medicine, and emergency medical services (EMS). He serves as the director of EMS at St. Louis Children’s Hospital and Missouri EMS for Children Director of Prehospital Readiness. Dr. Finney is committed to simplifying the prehospital care of children through interactive education, research, and quality improvement. In addition to his clinical and educational activities, Dr. Finney focuses his time on prehospital research in pediatric seizure management and manual ventilation with particular interest in the use of ketamine for prehospital benzodiazepine refractory status epilepticus.
