We are working to get all data monitored – and this is a large task. We anticipate this will be completed in early winter. Please share this memo with others at your sites.
Regarding publications, for the primary results paper – we have selected investigators from top enrolling sites along with faculty and staff from the CCC, DCC, and Berry Consultants to be specifically named authors (above the line) who will be contacted soon.
Each site should list each individual who served as the site trial PI, and each individual who served as the site trial primary study coordinator over the course of your site’s participation in the trial. In addition, another site EM or critical care lead investigator can be included. Please contact us if there are others from your site you which to include. All collaborators are considered authors, which means you will be able to find the publication in pubmed when searching for them as an author, and all collaborators can list the publication on their CVs, although some institutions have a separate subheading under publications for ‘group authorship’. We will also use this list for future papers that are “on behalf of the SIREN investigators.” The form to indicate this is here. When this list is assembled, it will be circulated back to you. It will be your site’s responsibility to make sure your site’s listing is complete and accurate. It is not possible to go back and correct spellings or add missing individuals after the list is submitted to the journal.
We have defined approximately 5 key secondary papers. The writing groups for these papers are being organized, but the leaders of each have been designated. The DCC will code these analyses in advance so these papers can be submitted very shortly after the main paper.
We have several other papers that have been added to the list as ideas. Writing groups can and should be organized for these papers as well. There may be some time and effort available from the DCC to code some of these papers, particularly if the data analysis is well described and straightforward. However, given limited availability of analyst time – it is likely that most additional secondary/tertiary papers will need to use the Investigator Use or Public Use Datasets (which will be available to investigators soon after release of the main paper).
What do you need to do right now?
If you are interested in contributing to any of the 5 key secondary papers – highlighted in yellow OR working on any of the other ideas listed OR submitting another idea use form.
We may not be able to find a spot for everyone on the initial secondary papers – but will try our best. The list of papers is here: ICECAP and Friends Manuscript List (do not request edit access). Row 2, Column C has a hyperlink to the form you use to indicate interest.
If you are leading a paper on the list (not highlighted) we encourage you to outline your plan using the MARF and start to have meetings to work out details.
The MARF can be found here: Manuscript analysis request form (MARF) (create a copy using google docs, and then share with collaborators). If you think you will want to try to access MUSC for analysis, please try to have a drafted MARF to us as soon as possible (but no later than the end of 2025) so we can consider this on the publications committee.
